Heather Helinsky | Breakout Session
Heather joins Tira Palmquist (playwright), Jeni Mahoney (Artistic Director and Playwright), and Christy Montour-Larson (director) for a panel discussion entitled, "Developing Development: Examining the Principles and Practices of New Play Development and New Play Festivals". This breakout session focuses on the realities of new play development, workshops and festivals, and discusses what the best practices for bringing new plays from conception to production. While promoting the work of women in theatre is important and timely, it's important to take a close look at new play development and new play festivals, to make sure that these opportunities both support the work of the artists as well as foster better work. Tira, Heather, Christy, and Jeni discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of new play development, and offer models for better approaches.
