"Gender Parity and the Classical Canon", a panel discussion about casting concerns for Shakespeare festivals and theatres that specialize in producing the classics. The panel consists of  Geoffrey Kent (Director, Actor and Fight Choreographer), Sam White (Artistic Director of Shakespeare in Detroit), Dawn Monique Williams (Artistic Associate at Oregon Shakespeare Festival), Lisa Wolpe (Artistic Director of Los Angeles Women's Shakespeare Company), and Frank Honts (Dramaturg at the Utah Shakespeare Festival). This discussion will be moderated by Jack Greenman, (Associate Professor of Voice & Speech at Southern Methodist University and Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework).

About Geoffrey

Geoffrey Kent is a fight director, actor, stage combat teacher and director based out of Denver, Colorado.

Geoffrey is a former President of the Society of American Fight Directors and the resident fight director for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Geoffrey teaches for the DCPA, the University of Denver and the MFA program for Louisiana State University. When not staging or teaching violence, Geoffrey works as a director along the front range including a 2016 gender-swapped production of “The Comedy of Errors” for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, "Waiting for Godot" for the Arvada Canter and "An Act of God" for the DCPA.
