About Karla

Karla Mason Smith, Executive Director, Age and Gender Equity in the Arts (AGE), has worked together with Founder and President Jane Vogel since the organization’s inception in 2014 to advance the AGE mission to promote an equitable and relevant voice for women across the life span in the performing arts.

Karla is a professional actor with over twenty years’ experience in stage, film and television. Among her regional acting credits are leading roles with Profile Theatre, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Hippodrome State Theatre, Virginia Stage Company, New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Center Repertory Theatre and Idaho Shakespeare Festival. She has toured, taught and directed youth under the auspices of California Theatre Centre. A freelance copywriter, marketing consultant and former nonprofit arts administrator, she has shared her expertise with numerous performing arts groups in the Portland, Oregon area where she currently resides.
