Dr. Sarah McCarroll | Breakout Session
Session: I Have Something to Say: Breaking into Academic Publishing
Dr. Sarah McCarroll is Associate Professor of Theatre at Georgia Southern University, where she teaches courses including Script Analysis, Theatre History, and Costume Design. She is also the resident costume designer and costume shop manager for the Theatre and Performance program. Sarah's MFA is from the University of Alabama, and her PhD is from Indiana University; for about a decade, her professional home was in the costume shop of the Utah Shakespeare Festival, where she served as First Hand and Wardrobe Supervisor. She is the current editor of Theatre Symposium; volume 26, "In Other Habits: Theatre and Costumes" has just hit mailboxes, and volume 27 will focus on Theatre and Embodiment. Her published work appears in Theatre Symposium and in the anthology Theatre, Performance and Cognition: Languages, Bodies and Ecologies. In July, Sarah presented at the Cognitive Futures for the Arts and Humanities Conference at the University of Kent (UK). She is in the early stages of a book project focused on the costume archive of the actress Ellen Terry.
